National airports handled a new historical high of 4.5 million passengers in February, an increase of 3.3% year-on-year, accumulating a 3.7% rise since the beginning of the year to 8.876 million, according to data released today by the INE.
Lisbon Airport accounted for 55.6% of the total number of passengers in the first two months of the year.

Gago Coutinho Airport, in Faro, saw a year-on-year decrease of 2.5%, handling 302,100 passengers, equivalent to 6.8% of the total.

All islands in the archipelago saw a decrease in arrivals compared to February 2025, with the most significant drops occurring on the islands of Graciosa (-18.6%), Terceira (-10.4%), and São Jorge (-8.9%).

Data indicate a 12.1% increase in the number of passengers in the archipelago compared with 2024.

At Madeira Airport, international traffic predominated over domestic. In contrast, at Porto Santo, 83.7% of all flights were domestic.
