José Luís Arnault says he appealed the fine because not doing so 'would be admitting guilt' for something he is not responsible for.

ANA, the operator of Lisbon Airport, will challenge a penalty imposed for failing to comply with the city's noise management plan.

According to the CEO, the noise action plan includes measures that depend on the company itself and others that require intervention by external entities.

The Inspector-General of IGAMAOT says fines for administrative offence proceedings range from €12,000 to €72,000. These are the maximum amounts provided for by law. The new airport noise plan has been rejected.
