Update: Nationality law changes spark concern over birth registrations
Following the promulgation of the new nationality law, which restricts original citizenship for children of foreigners born in Portugal, the Brazilian Consulate in Lisbon expects a surge in birth registration requests. Families are now advised to register births at their respective consulates to secure documentation, as previous automatic pathways for children are being restricted.
