A regular presence in the Financial Times' rankings of the best Economics and Management schools, Nova SBE is set to propose an official separation from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL). The school aims to shed bureaucratic constraints to compete globally, following tensions with the university's rector over branding and autonomy. The proposal will be submitted to Minister Fernando Alexandre, whose recent reforms on higher education autonomy may influence the outcome of this potential split.
