The Judiciary Police seized one tonne of high-purity cocaine on Thursday, 23 April, hidden inside hundreds of 50kg sugar bags within shipping containers. Three people were arrested during the operation, which was carried out in the Baixo Minho region and at the Port of Leixões in collaboration with the Tax and Customs Authority. This is the largest seizure of cocaine by the Braga Criminal Investigation Department, stemming from an investigation into drug trafficking, criminal association, and money laundering that began in late 2025.
