Portugal summoned Iran's ambassador to condemn the violent repression of protests against the regime in that country and is open to strengthening European sanctions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today. Von der Leyen pledged on Tuesday to swiftly propose new sanctions against those 'responsible for the repression' of the demonstrations in Iran, saying she was horrified.
