Blackout: Minister says Portugal received no prior warning from Spain

The Minister of Environment and Energy stated on Wednesday, April 15, that the government received no prior warning regarding the power blackout and believes the Spanish government was also unaware of the danger. During a hearing, she confirmed that an ENTSO-E report identified the origin of the blackout in Spain, caused by a series of technical failures starting in Granada, Badajoz, and Seville due to insufficient voltage control. The minister noted that the blackout reached Portugal just six seconds after the general collapse in Spain, making it impossible to avoid the impact. She added that the national response was immediate, restoring the electrical system within 15 hours, and that the government plans to invest approximately four billion euros in the power grid.
