The director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Fatih Birol, believes that the energy crisis linked to the war in Iran will accelerate the development of renewable energy, nuclear power, and electric vehicles. Birol noted that while the global energy system architecture will change, the current crisis is more severe than those of 1973, 1979, and 2022 combined, warning of a 'black April' due to significant damage to energy infrastructure and potential supply disruptions.
