House rents rise 5.2% in February

House rents per square metre increased by 5.2% in February compared to the same month in 2025, up 0.1 percentage points from January, with all regions recording year-on-year growth, the INE reported this Wednesday, the 11th. According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), in February 'all regions showed positive year-on-year variations in housing rents, with Madeira recording the most intense increase (7.0%)'. In monthly terms, the average value of housing rents per square metre recorded a variation of 0.6%, compared to 0.8% in the previous month. The region with the highest positive monthly variation was Madeira (0.7%), with no region observing a negative variation in the respective average value of housing rents. Construction costs for new housing rose 3.7% in January.
