The Judiciary Police (PJ) carried out a police operation on Tuesday in the Azores and Lisbon as part of an investigation into 'suspected favouritism towards an airline by a public entity', naming five formal suspects. According to CNN Portugal, searches in the Azores focused on the office of Berta Cabral, the regional secretary for tourism, regarding alleged favouritism worth millions of euros towards the airline Ryanair. The operation, codenamed 'Last Call', involved 14 search and seizure warrants at homes, public bodies, private associations, and law firms, investigating crimes including subsidy fraud, prevarication, and abuse of power related to the Azores 2030 Operational Programme.
