The government has allocated 174 million euros for coastal interventions by the end of 2027, following the assessment of 571 instances of damage caused by winter storms, the Minister of Environment announced on Tuesday, April 7. Of this total, 27 million euros are earmarked for urgent repairs to be completed before the bathing season begins in mid-May. The funding includes 63 million euros from existing European programmes and approximately 80 million euros from the Environmental Fund or European sources. The Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) confirmed that immediate repair works are proceeding on schedule, following a series of storms that caused significant destruction along the coastline between January and February.
