The German automotive industry has called for the urgent opening of trade negotiations between the US and the EU following President Donald Trump's announcement of 25% tariffs on vehicles. Hildegard Müller, president of the VDA, warned of enormous costs for the sector, while the European Commission rejected claims of trade agreement violations and warned of potential countermeasures. Bernd Lange, the European Parliament's lead on US-EU trade, urged a firm response to the new tariff threats.
