The management of Notícias Direct, a subsidiary of the Global Media Group, has announced it will use all available legal means to protect its rights in a dispute with Notícias Ilimitadas (NI), a company controlled by businessman José Rogeira de Jesus. The conflict arose after NI, which recently acquired titles like Jornal de Notícias and O Jogo, attempted to bypass Notícias Direct to manage subscriptions directly, allegedly contacting distributors and seeking to use the existing customer database. Notícias Direct, which has managed these subscriptions for over a decade, suspended distribution after NI unilaterally increased prices by 66%, claiming the move threatened its operational viability. Notícias Direct maintains it is open to dialogue to resolve the delivery issues for subscribers.
