A 31-year-old man was arrested in Ovar, Aveiro district, on suspicion of sexually abusing his 12-year-old daughter since at least 2024. The Judiciary Police (PJ) stated that the suspect was charged with aggravated sexual abuse of a child and has been placed in pre-trial detention. The abuse reportedly occurred at the family home when they were alone. The victim eventually reported the abuse at school despite threats. The PJ investigation led to the arrest, following separate reports regarding a Moral Education teacher convicted of abuse and new allegations received by the VITA group concerning sexual abuse within the Church.
