The aerospace and defence sectors in Portugal export 92% of their production and are expected to grow by over 10%, reaching new highs in turnover and employment, according to the president of the AED Cluster. In an interview with Lusa, José Neves detailed that the aeronautics, space, and defence (AED) sectors are consolidating their weight in the economy with a strong external focus. He noted that Brazil is the primary export destination due to Embraer's production in Portugal, followed by Spain, France, and Germany. With a current turnover of 2.1 billion euros and 20,000 jobs, the sector is expanding its industrial capabilities in satellites, drones, and communication systems, aiming to increase its share of national exports in the coming decade.
