The two bills regarding the Nationality Law, approved on April 1st, are now on the desk of President António José Seguro. The texts were sent by Parliament on Monday, April 13th. Two deadlines now begin: eight days for a party to request a review by the Constitutional Court and 20 days for the President to make a decision. The Socialist Party (PS) is considering whether to request a review regarding the bill on the loss of nationality. On the day of the parliamentary vote, MP Pedro Delgado Alves signaled this possibility, though he ruled it out for the text concerning the most significant changes to the law. The PSD's decision to split the texts was a strategy to prevent delays in their entry into force. These bills serve as a test for the new President, as they are the first to be evaluated by Seguro that had previously been rejected by Constitutional Court judges.
