A 40-year-old man was arrested on Monday, March 23, on suspicion of sexually abusing two minor nieces in Alenquer. The alleged abuse of the two girls, who were seven and 10 years old at the time, occurred in 2017 at the suspect's home in Alenquer, in the Lisbon district, according to the Judiciary Police (PJ) on Tuesday. According to a PJ statement, the investigation began following a report from the National Republican Guard (GNR), which had been contacted by the school attended by one of the minors, where she had disclosed what had happened. The PJ's Lisbon and Tagus Valley Sexual Crimes Investigation Section, which is leading the inquiry, gathered evidence strongly indicating the suspect's involvement in the crimes. The man will be brought before a judge for questioning to determine coercive measures.
