The European Defence Agency (EDA) has signed a 15.65 million euro research contract with an industrial consortium to develop the first European very-low-orbit military satellite. Portugal is one of five European countries funding the VLEO-DEF project, a consortium that includes the Portuguese companies Geosat, Omnidea, and others.
