Two people were arrested this Friday, March 27, on suspicion of kidnapping, robbery, and extortion against a woman living in the city of Covilhã. According to a statement from the Judiciary Police, the victim had provided four bank accounts to the suspects to launder money from drug trafficking and cyber fraud. At one point, the victim, initially in collusion with the suspects, kept a large sum of money, leading to her kidnapping and the theft of electronic equipment from her home. One arrest was made via warrant and the other in flagrante delicto. A house search was also conducted, yielding significant evidence. The suspects will appear before the Fundão Court for their first judicial interrogation and to determine coercive measures.
