Youth who stabbed PSP officer inside police station remanded in custody

The young man who allegedly stabbed a Public Security Police (PSP) officer inside a station in Marrazes, Leiria, has been placed in preventive detention. The 19-year-old suspect appeared in court on Saturday, April 18, where the most severe coercive measure was applied, as reported by the Lusa agency. The individual has been taken to the Leiria Youth Prison and may face charges of attempted murder. The attack occurred on Friday afternoon, leaving the 57-year-old officer with multiple stab wounds, including to the neck. He remains under observation at Leiria Hospital. The suspect fled the scene but was quickly intercepted and arrested by PSP officers. The Judicial Police (PJ) are investigating, with potential mental health issues being considered as a possible motive.
