‘Filodemo’ is one of three plays attributed to Luís de Camões, written and first performed in India. Directed by Pedro Penim for the D. Maria II National Theatre, this pastoral comedy explores themes of love and social obstacles through 16th-century language. The production, which runs from March 27 to April 18 at the Jardins do Bombarda in Lisbon, features a cast including Vítor Silva Costa and José Neves, and incorporates stage directions directly into the performance to highlight the beauty and musicality of Camões' writing.
