Brazilians wishing to fly to Portugal have officially had another airline option since Thursday the 12th: Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes. CEO Celso Ferrer announced Lisbon as one of three new destinations, alongside Paris and Orlando. Flights will operate four times a week starting September 16th, departing from Rio de Janeiro's Galeão Airport to Lisbon's Humberto Delgado Airport. During an event at the Copacabana Palace, Ferrer highlighted the company's growth and its new strategy of diversifying its fleet with Airbus A330-900 aircraft, moving beyond its traditional Boeing 737 operations. This expansion marks a significant shift for the airline, which previously focused on domestic and regional South American routes, now competing directly with LATAM, Azul, and TAP Air Portugal on the Brazil-Portugal corridor.
