The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested 38 pickpockets and recorded 1,617 incidents related to this type of crime in the first quarter of the year. The police have increased their presence in urban centres, tourist areas, and public transport hubs as part of the 'Easter Operation' to prevent thefts. According to the 2025 Annual Internal Security Report, pickpocketing was one of the crimes with the highest increase last year, with Lisbon being the most affected city.
