Notícias Direct has suspended the distribution of Jornal de Notícias and O Jogo, titles owned by Notícias Ilimitadas (NI), after the company made a “unilateral” change to contractual terms that had been in place for over a decade. According to an official source from the company led by Luís Figueiredo Trindade, the change significantly reduced the discount Notícias Direct received, making their operations unviable due to distribution costs. Despite attempts to reach an agreement, the suspension was enacted after warnings that NI was harming its own subscribers. Meanwhile, Global Media, which recently sold its stake in NI, confirmed that its own newspaper, DN, will continue to be distributed to subscribers as normal.
