Portuguese Cardinal Américo Aguiar has been appointed as a member of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, a body managing the relationship between the Holy See and the laity, the Vatican announced this Friday, April 10. Cardinal Aguiar, who also leads the Diocese of Setúbal, expressed gratitude for the appointment, stating it is a sign of trust that calls him to serve the Church's pastoral path in communion with the Holy Father. Aguiar previously led the Lisbon World Youth Day Foundation in 2023 and highlighted the importance of the Dicastery's role in preparing for such global youth events.
