Over three thousand kilometres of forest paths cleared

More than three thousand kilometres of forest paths affected by bad weather, a third of which are in the Leiria region, were cleared by the 15th, the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF) revealed. According to data sent to the Lusa agency, of the 3,067 kilometres of forest road network cleared by that date, 1,058 are in the Leiria region, which was the most affected by the low-pressure system Kristin on 28 January. The ICNF stated that in the national forests of Leiria and Casal da Lebre, all paved forest paths are cleared, totalling 23.7 km. At least 19 people have died in Portugal since 28 January following the passage of the low-pressure systems Kristin, Leonardo, and Marta, which also caused hundreds of injuries and displacements.
