Interim President Delcy Rodríguez has announced the end of the Amnesty Law two months after its approval, despite reports from NGOs that 473 political prisoners remain in custody. The decision has drawn sharp criticism from human rights groups, who label the move an unconstitutional violation of the rule of law and a source of legal insecurity for victims. While the government claims the amnesty was successful, with over 8,600 people granted relief, NGOs argue the revocation undermines human rights and justice. Among those still detained for political reasons are six Portuguese citizens.
