Via do Infante sees more traffic and more accidents after toll removal

GNR data shows 355 accidents resulted in 105 casualties, an increase of 58 compared to 2024. While there were no fatalities last year, serious injuries rose from three to 14. Users have also reported severe road degradation, including cracks and uneven surfaces, which they claim are exacerbated by the surge in traffic, posing significant safety risks. The concessionaire, Autoestrada do Algarve, maintains that it is fulfilling all contractual obligations regarding road maintenance and inspection.
