Over recent years, a growing inconsistency has become evident between the Government's rhetoric and the reality experienced by the Portuguese people. While ambitious plans and strategies are frequently announced with significant media coverage, results consistently fall short, failing to reach those in need. This disconnect is visible across key sectors: from the delayed distribution of aid following extreme weather events to the persistent housing crisis, healthcare access issues, and a high tax burden that does not translate into better public services. The article argues that the current governance model prioritises communication over execution, leaving citizens to rely on private solutions rather than state support, ultimately eroding trust in public institutions.
