The Romaria da Nossa Senhora da Agonia in Viana do Castelo is one of the largest popular festivities in Portugal. Held in late August, it features elaborate religious processions, traditional Minho costumes, folk music, fireworks, a fairground, and the spectacular procession to the sea.
