Network of service points for savings products increased to 12

The Government announced this Friday, March 20, that the network of service points, such as Citizen Shops and Citizen Spaces, which handle matters related to savings products, will be increased from seven to 12. A joint statement from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of State Reform indicates that from next Monday, March 23, five more Citizen Spaces will begin offering services related to savings products: Coimbra, Penafiel, Setúbal, Faro, and Viseu. In these locations, it will be possible to access a wider range of services, such as subscribing to and redeeming savings products, updating personal data associated with savings accounts, and the dematerialisation of physical certificates from series A, B, and D. This reinforcement was carried out through a cooperation protocol between the IGCP (Treasury and Public Debt Management Agency) and AMA (Administrative Modernisation Agency). It is recalled that on January 5, 2026, a process began for the dematerialisation of series A, B, and D certificates, which still exist in physical form. Holders can go to CTT post offices and other authorised spaces to hand in paper certificates and receive the digital equivalent, a process that will last nearly four years, until November 29, 2029. Conversion of paper savings certificates to digital starts today; Portuguese people channel savings into deposits and savings certificates.
