Government chooses Macário Correia to lead company managing 'Water that Unites' strategy projects

The Portuguese government has appointed former mayor and official Macário Correia to lead Aqua SA, the company tasked with managing and executing projects under the 'Water that Unites' strategy. Prime Minister Luís Montenegro announced the decision following a Council of Ministers meeting in Beja, highlighting Correia's executive capacity. The strategy, which involves over 1.5 billion euros in current investments, aims to manage water resources nationwide. Additionally, the government extended credit moratoriums for businesses and families by 12 months following recent storms and approved 80 million euros in support for the agricultural sector to address infrastructure damage and rising costs of energy and fertilisers.
