Manuel João Vieira received more than 1% of the vote in the presidential election and even finished ahead of Jorge Pinto, the candidate backed by Livre. Vieira spent election night at the Padaria do Povo in Campo de Ourique, among family and friends. He describes the result as a 'victorious defeat' and says he intends to run again.
