Carlos Cabreiro has been sworn in as the national director of the Judiciary Police (PJ), pledging to lead with enthusiasm and team spirit. In his inaugural speech, he highlighted his commitment to digital innovation, artificial intelligence, and a strong focus on combating violent crime, organised crime, and cybercrime. Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, who attended the ceremony, emphasised that the Annual Internal Security Report (RASI) should guide the PJ's work, noting that deterrence is the best form of prevention. Cabreiro, a veteran with nearly 35 years of service, previously led the National Unit for Combating Cybercrime and Technological Crime (UNC3T).
