Portugal is sending a delegation of 15 athletes to the 2026 World Athletics Relays, taking place on May 2nd and 3rd in Gaborone, Botswana. This is the eighth edition of the event and the first to be held on African soil. The national team will compete in three events: the women's 4x100m, the mixed 4x100m, and the men's 4x400m, aiming for strong results and qualification spots for the 2027 World Athletics Championships. The men's 4x400m relay team is the delegation's main competitive highlight, following their national record-breaking performance in Tokyo in 2025. The women's 4x100m team also enters with high ambitions after setting a national record in Madrid last year. This marks Portugal's fifth appearance at the World Athletics Relays, with the team looking to build on their historical bronze medal from 2021.
