Context & Explainers
Eurostat is the statistical office of the European Union that collects, harmonises and publishes data on inflation, employment, trade and other socio-economic indicators across EU countries. It reported the eurozone's year-on-year inflation at 1.9% in December 2025 (revising down from 2.0%) and 2.3% for the whole EU — data used by central banks and governments when setting policy.
Sustainability (sustentabilidade) means meeting present needs without reducing the ability of future generations to meet theirs, covering environmental, economic and social dimensions. For residents it affects local planning, jobs and services—look for municipal or company targets, timelines and measurable actions when assessing how sustainable a place or employer is.
