Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Greece, and Portugal were among the European countries that refused military involvement in the Strait of Hormuz, a proposal from the US president. Alberto Cunha, a commentator for CNN Portugal, points out that “Europe's allies were not consulted at all regarding the conflict in Iran,” and therefore have “full legitimacy” to reject the initiative.
