Portugal has 438 Blue Flag beaches, marinas, and vessels this year, six fewer than in 2024, spread across 100 municipalities. The Blue Flag Association announced that 396 beaches will fly the flag this season, noting that the slight decrease is due to weather conditions affecting water quality. The association also highlighted that this is a transition year for new criteria coming into effect in 2027, and that Portugal remains a global leader in the number of awarded coastal and inland beaches.
