The National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), the GNR and the PSP are launching an awareness campaign on Tuesday, April 21, focused on the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and electric scooter users. The campaign, titled 'On the road, we are all vulnerable', will run until April 27 and includes enforcement by the PSP and GNR, focusing on pedestrian crossings, intersections, cycle paths and mixed-traffic zones. The authorities noted that between 2022 and 2024, 327 pedestrians and 94 cyclists died in accidents, mostly within towns and on secondary roads, with 1,626 serious injuries recorded. The campaign highlights risky behaviours for all road users, including pedestrians crossing outside designated areas, cyclists riding against traffic or on pavements, and drivers failing to yield or speeding in urban areas. This is the fourth of 11 campaigns planned for the 2026 National Enforcement Plan. The GNR reported 10 deaths in e-scooter accidents over the last seven years.
