Speaking to Lusa, Virgílio Antunes, the new president of the Portuguese Episcopal Conference (CEP), stated he hopes the way the Catholic Church handled the issue of sexual abuse will be “replicated” in other sectors. In the same interview, he welcomed the repeal of the gender identity law. “We must be careful when touching on issues that call into question the very structure of humanity, when touching on the human person.”
