More than 200,000 voters registered for advance and mobile voting that took place this Sunday for the presidential election. Lisbon and Porto were the districts with the highest number of registered voters. The most common reasons for voting early were work-related, but there were also some political leaders who wanted to set an example.

Context & Explainers
Advance voting lets people cast their ballot before official election day and in Portugal is called voto antecipado. It can involve fixed advance polling stations or mobile teams that visit communities, and election officials can change or relocate those sites for safety—which is why mobile advance voting locations were moved in six municipalities after Storm Kristin.
