The Public Security Police (PSP) lost 437 officers last year, with 895 departures and 458 new recruits, according to the 2025 Annual Internal Security Report (RASI). The PSP, which has a total of 19,661 personnel, was the security force that lost the most staff, while the Judiciary Police (PJ) and the Maritime Police saw an increase in their numbers. The report notes that most of those who left the PSP were agents (659), followed by chiefs (168) and officers (69). The National Republican Guard (GNR) also saw a net loss, with 780 departures and 715 new recruits. Conversely, the PJ and the Maritime Police recorded positive growth. In total, these four security forces have 45,764 members and lost 430 in 2025. The report also highlights that, due to operational activities, one officer died last year, 10 were hospitalised with injuries, 755 sustained minor injuries, and 549 were assaulted without injury.
