RTP recorded a loss of 3.9 million euros in 2025, ending a 15-year streak of positive net results. The Board of Directors, led by Nicolau Santos, attributed the deficit to stagnant revenues since 2016 and rising operational costs, despite significant cost-cutting measures. The company's financial administrator, Sónia Alegre, noted that while 2026 results are projected to improve, a further decline is expected in 2027. The broadcaster is now requesting 20 million euros from the government to fund the departure of 165 employees.
