Poorly executed but highly paid expert reports that significantly impact investigations

INVESTIGATION PARALYSED || Chapter 3 of 4 || IT, financial, and accounting expert reports are becoming increasingly vital in the largest and most complex investigations. However, some forensic reports from the Judiciary Police are years behind schedule, others proceed without the Public Prosecutor's Office being consulted, and some are of such poor quality that they are of little or no use to legal proceedings. Internal DCIAP documents reveal specific cases—including intense friction with hired external experts—that occurred in white-collar crime investigations and even in terrorism cases.
