Joseph Figueira Martin had been detained in the CAR since May 2024 and was sentenced in November 2025 to 10 years of forced labour for criminal conspiracy and attempting to undermine state security. António José Seguro telephoned the President of the CAR on Wednesday to intercede for his release, and called again this Tuesday.
